UPDATE - We're Open!!!
Sorry about the delay in posting this but most people follow the facebook status so that was up to speed.
We're officially open!!!!
It was down to the wire but inspections were passed and the doors were able to open. I've always made fun of those people on reality shows where everything is a fire drill down to the last minute. But I was that guy last Friday standing in line in the permit office to pull another permit for wiring the kettle up 20 mins before the opening. Granted it wasn't pertinent to opening but there I was, talking up the brewery to the ladies in the permit office followed by an "oh by the way I'm supposed to be opening in 20 mins so can we step this up a little?".
I'll get the pictures up as soon as the people taking them are able to get them to me but check back on Wednesdays for the schedule of events for each Friday. It'll vary based on happenings in the brewery as well as what's on tap. Be patient, I'm brewing as fast as I can and we still don't have the big system up yet but sounds like it'll be next week before I can do the first big batch.
Cheers and see you in the tasting room

Blog update
Given up trying to update the blog when Facebook is so much easier to do from my phone right now. Buildout is almost done so I'll attach some pics. But for daily or regular updates go to the brewery FACEBOOK page.
Looking to open the tasting room up in mid to late August so stay tuned.

Just an update on the build out.
Thought I would post a quick update on the build out and where we are with things. There were a few little curve balls thrown our way recently that I had not thought of but we're working past them quickly. Who would have thought that the brew house and the fermenters needed to be seismically restrained. Not Me!
On a positive note, I had the interview with the TTB last week and we should be back to legal status in another week. Now I just need to get the brewery finished so I can make some beer.

1 Year Anniversary & The Winds of Change
February 2nd marked our 1 year Anniversary but things have been so hectic lately we didn't have time to celebrate.
In our first year we had planned to have a beer on tap in 1-2 restaurants but by years end we've had beer on tap in 10 restaurants and as many as 4 taps flowing at once in The Vintage Cocktail Lounge. We figured we'd be brewing 1 day a week every other week and to keep up with demand we ended up brewing 1-3 nights a week at times.
Recently, due to an upswing in his own business our landlord asked us if we would be willing to move out because he needed the space back we've been occupying. UH OH, while we were happy for them this wasn't what we wanted to hear so soon in the game. Time to hit the reset button so we stopped brewing just after the first of the year and have been slowly delivering the last of our beer stockpile to our regulars while we came up with a new plan.
So what's a little 1 bbl brewery with no place to call home to do in times like these?
Time to find ourselves a new home and expand our brewing capacity in hopes of working smarter and not harder in 2011.
Space is tight in Montaville these days and after several months of searching, the possibility of finding something that suited the needs of our expanding brewery was impossible. Once we expanded our search we found a great location just across the I-5 bridge in downtown Vancouver. We are pleased to be a part of the revitalization process going on in Vancouver and look forward to serving their community as well as stay involved with the Montavilla neighborhood where we got our start.
The new location will house the expanded 5 barrel brewery as well as have a tasting room which will run on limited hours at first. True to the Nano Brewery concept, I'll be keeping a day job as well as make sure beer keeps flowing from the taps. During this time of growth we will be taking the next few months off from brewing to finish building the new brew house and get the tasting room ready. Check back often as I'll be posting pics from the brewery build out as well as the new brewing equipment as we get it finished up.
Cheers

It's already December, Holy Crap!
Time's flying these days with the relocation project, expansion work and still trying to make beer along the way. The interim 2bbl set up should be running after the first of the year which should hold the brewery over till the relocation process is finished.
Look for the Asylum Ave IPA, Amber Ale and soon the Little Bull Stout at various locations around town over the next few weeks. Trying to keep up with this cities beer demands is a project all by itself but I don't mind trying.
Here's a great picture of 2 - 11 pound bricks of hops which should keep me busy for a few more weeks.
Cheers and Happy Holidays
